Learn how to map and visualize systems and use this knowledge to facilitate a journey from thinking to making.
In this course we will learn how to map and visualize systems and use this knowledge to facilitate a journey from thinking to making. We will be looking at how systems thinking and a systemic, holistic approach to complex problems can lead to sustainable solutions and an even distribution of value. Ultimately, the course aims to help students clearly articulate their thinking, explore ways of planning and communicating solutions and develop new models of engagement and action.
“Eventually, everything connects – people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se.”
— Charles and Ray Eames
For the first part of the course, we will be used to investigate how mapping and modeling techniques can help develop sustainable frameworks of action.
For the second part of the course, we will begin modeling solutions and use these models to refine the way we communicate them to various stakeholders.
